Emma’s second boudoir photoshoot showed how far her confidence had grown

Emma’s photoshoot with us last year was very memorable for a couple of reasons. Firstly, she was arguably the most nervous client we’ve worked with. We honestly thought it might be the first time someone would walk away without having a single photo taken. Secondly, her photos are some of the most frequently talked about and complimented by clients on our website and at the studio!

So when she got in touch to arrange a second photoshoot, we were very excited! It was so amazing to hear that her confidence had grown since her experience with us at the studio and we knew how lovely she was to work with. It seemed the perfect opportunity to challenge ourselves creatively!

So we suggested that we wouldn’t repeat any of the poses or lighting we used in her first shoot and that we would introduce some new ideas we’d never tried before. Luckily enough, Emma was more than happy to go along with the plan and so we began to do some research.

The first thing you may notice with these photo vs. her first shoot is the eye contact. In this session she was a lot more comfortable making eye contact with the camera and Jon caught some really strong expressions that I think demonstrate how far her confidence and self belief have come in just 12 months.

We began the shoot working with daylight, exploring new poses and experimenting with facial expressions etc. I love the soft glow that Jon managed to capture with her skin tone and hair. It’s also a good moment to discuss the gorgeous makeup that Charlotte created for the shoot! Emma said she’d like to try something more dramatic this time and the copper tones really bring out her eyes.

Jon then experimented with hard studio lights on the white bedsheets for a more dramatic effect with lots of shadows. Her pinstripe bodysuit was perfect for this and really exaggerated the contrast and shapes he created with her poses. It was lots of fun experimenting with the shadows!

It’s hard to believe this is the same woman we met last year!

Finally, we captured some subtle nude photos that represented the new, more confident Emma who didn’t need to hide. It’s hard to believe this is the same woman we met last year!

“My boudoir photoshoot last year was really pushing my boundaries, I went totally out of my comfort zone and at the time it was absolutely terrifying.

“Now I feel nothing but pride!”

Looking back on the pictures now I feel nothing but pride! It was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done, but also one of the best.

I’ve got my ultra-favourite photo framed in my bedroom, I love looking at it whenever I go in there, and I loved showing my photos off on social media. My favourites went straight onto Instagram and Facebook! Let’s face it, that’s where everyone puts their pictures these days and it’s the best place to show them off en masse. Of course I also have my boudoir book, but that’s a little more private than the others.

“Going into this full of confidence would be awesome!”

I loved the whole experience of my boudoir photoshoot and really wanted to do it again with a totally open mind and really go for it. I wanted a chance to see what could be possible. I knew that if I could get some amazing pictures when I was so unbelievably nervous, then going into this full of confidence would be awesome!

We talked a lot on Facebook before the shoot. I knew I wanted to try something different and Jon and Danielle were more than happy to work with it. In fact they said they were excited to try some of their new ideas and get creative, so I left it in their hands to come up with a plan.

“One major thing was different this year – me!”

One major thing was different this year – me! Looking back, I was so underprepared the first time round. This time I was ready; hair recently dyed, nails done, fake tan, lashes looking gorgeous. I just felt more ready, everything was how I wanted it.

I was so much more relaxed this time round. Jon and Danielle were still the amazing supportive people they were last time, but I was so much more comfortable with everything.

“I was really excited to see what we could do”

The first photoshoot gave me the chance to see myself in a totally different light, which gave me more confidence when it came to my second shoot. I was really excited to see what we could do. I was fully prepared to feel confident in front of the camera.

The environment, the experience and the hair and make up were just as fab as last time (if not more!). They supplied me with copious amounts of coffee and were on hand to help me in any way possible. This time round it was such a giggle – I absolutely loved it!

“The pictures are absolutely stunning”

When I came back to view the results I was, once again, over the moon! Absolutely loved the pictures. We’d taken a slightly different approach to this second photo shoot and it was totally worth it. The pictures are absolutely stunning and I can’t wait to get my hands on my pictures and (another) boudoir book!” Emma

I hope that Emma’s story reassures anyone who fears they don’t have enough confidence for a boudoir photoshoot. If she can face her fears then so can you!

A second experience could be just as amazing!

I also hope that she inspires anyone who has had a boudoir photoshoot that a second experience could be just as amazing! We’d love to push our own creativity and work with you to capture something special.
