Catherine explored her casual & sensual Sunday morning style
When someone mentions boudoir photography to you, what do you think of? Burlesque inspired outfits with corsets and feathers? Stockings, suspenders and high heels? We believe that Boudoir is all about being yourself, and no two women view "sexy" in the same way.
Saturday night or Sunday morning?
Feeling sexy could mean getting all dressed up with glamorous outfits, dramatic makeup and big hair (something we often refer to as "Saturday night" looks) or it could mean being relaxed and wearing whatever comes to hand (what we usually call "Sunday morning"looks) with undone styling and poses that tell a story.
Look through your wardrobe.
When you're deciding what to wear for your photoshoot, we always encourage you to look through your wardrobe as there's so much more to boudoir than lingerie!
For relaxed and sexy vibes you should look for oversized stretchy tops and button up shirts, basic vests and camisoles, sleep shorts and off-shoulder jumpers. Then when it comes to lingerie, focus on unstructured styles such as bodies, bralettes, knickers in soft cotton, silk and lace.
I just woke up like this!
We really wanted to celebrate Sunday morning styles in Catherine's photoshoot, so her makeup focused on smoky eyes with warm tones and a soft pink lip and soft waves added real texture and movement to her hair. The whole look is designed to give the Hollywood illusion of effortless glamour whilst accentuating and defining her features.
One of the most common fears ladies have before their photoshoot is that they won't know what to do or how to look sexy. Well, that's what we're here for!
We’ll show you how to pose.
We don't expect anyone to know how to pose and we won't put you "on the spot". We've spent a lot of time experimenting to learn what flatters the figure and how to adapt each pose to suit you as an individual. We'll guide you throughout the photoshoot and even demonstrate the poses to make things easy to follow.
Each photo tells a story.
To give character to these "Sunday morning" looks, we like to tell a story with the poses. Something as simple as unbuttoning your shirt implies what's yet to come or playing with your hair can suggest what you're feeling. It's all in the details and we'll talk you through every moment.
It may feel strange at first, but it's amazing how quickly you relax and it's lots of fun!
Using the natural light.
We love to use natural light for a more editorial feel, and for this photoshoot we didn't use the studio lights once! The soft sunshine of Derbyshire through our frosted windows gives the most beautiful glowing light throughout the studio and we love to feature the exposed stonework and original windows in the photos.
“While you chat to Danielle about your expectations of the session, your style and the vibe you are looking for, the amazing stylists will take care of you making you look and feel a million dollars.
“You are wrapped in Foxlow comfort”
From the moment you arrive at the studio, you are wrapped in Foxlow comfort. The studio itself is beautiful, a very old building dripping in character. Jon and Danielle are so welcoming, friendly and extremely professional.
By the time you get into the studio you will feel so at ease you'll be questioning all the nerves. Worried about posing? Fear not! You'll have a real giggle while Jon so elegantly shows you all the moves.
The most difficult thing about the whole session will be picking which photos to take home. I really can't recommend the Foxlow team highly enough.” Catherine
