Alison found a new love for her body after menopause

confidence following menopause

Alison’s body image had gone downhill fast since hitting menopause, but she left the studio with so much more self love and confidence in her body. One of her photos is now proudly displayed on the wall as a constant reminder of her experience - something she said she would never want to do!

Relaxed boudoir photo

I have never really had a great body image, I don’t think many women do, but as I’ve aged (and especially since hitting menopause) it’s really gone downhill fast.

I had never thought of doing a boudoir photoshoot before I saw Foxlow on TikTok, but I was blown away by the photos and Danielle with her fantastic positive attitude. I found myself stalking the studio and watching all their social media for many months before I got the confidence to book, but the more I saw the more I know I’d only book with the Foxlow team.

Everything from the first contact was so easy and I really felt like I was talking to a friend, I never felt like I was doing anything out of the ordinary. I was very lucky to get a last minute appointment within a month of booking which worked perfectly for me as I didn’t have time to overthink it or work myself up much. The welcome pack was so useful while I was planning the shoot and Danielle was so helpful in suggesting what to do and what to bring.

confidence boosting experience

I was very nervous at the thought of getting undressed and in my underwear in front of strangers, but I didn’t need to worry as the minute I walked through the door I felt so at ease. I was offered a drink and chose a cup of coffee (though something stronger was available) and sat down for a chat with the team. I did joke that it was like meeting someone famous when I saw Danielle!

Next I went through with the lovely Charlotte to get my hair and makeup done. I am not a makeup person and don’t really wear it daily; Charlotte definitely took this into account at the same time as making sure I looked good for the camera. I loved how she explained what she was doing and why she was using each product as it made me feel very relaxed and special too.

In the studio Danielle takes you through every step of what will happen and is so good at showing you where to place yourself and how to pose while Jon worked his magic. I left the studio feeling “Wow, I can’t believe I’ve done that” and it made me so very proud of myself. I suddenly felt that I could do anything.

empowering boudoir photos

When I first saw my photos, I cried. I’m not a crier at all, I’d even go as far as to say I’m very stoic, so I wasn’t expecting that reaction! I was just so blown away that it was me I was seeing in those photos.

I have much more confidence in my own body and a new found love for myself since my photoshoot. Now my photo album has pride of place on my bedside table, and I have a print for the wall - something I said I would never want to do!
