Victoria learned to love and accept her body with and without her prosthetic leg

Victoria had always struggled with her body confidence, but it hit an all time low following the amputation of her leg. Her boudoir photoshoot was all about learning to love accept herself as she is today, capturing gorgeous photos both with and without her prosthetic leg. After an amazing and emotional day at the studio, she left with a newfound confidence and amazing photos as a constant reminder of the strong, beautiful woman she is.

reclaim confidence after amputation

A boudoir shoot was something I had been looking into for a long time, but kept pushing it to the background. I have extremely bad body confidence issues that was further knocked following the amputation if my leg in 2006.

After trailing through many a website, I stumbled across Foxlow Photography on TikTok. Right from even before I booked the shoot Danielle was there answering my questions and putting me at ease. No question was too stupid, but in the same breath I never felt bombarded or pressured.

Once I had booked I didn’t want to think about it too much as the nerves were kicking in, but Danielle was amazing at periodically checking in without being invasive. I had certain items of clothing that I wanted to incorporate into the shoot but set about the task of underwear looking. The books sent through are an amazing source of guidance. but once again Danielle was in hand if and when needed.

Once I had a selection of underwear, accessories and shoes - to prevent me overthinking it, they got stored away in a bag ready.

The day of the shoot arrived as did I with my bag of clothes. Instantly I was put at ease whilst hair, makeup and clothes were discussed. Due to a serious lack of confidence I had rough ideas of what I liked and didn’t like but wasn’t sure on any of my underwear. I handed everything I brought over and requested they make the decisions about what would work best.

I made the decision to have pictures done both with my prosthetic leg and without and, whilst I was in another room being pampered and made to feel amazing by Charlotte, Danielle did her styling magic and Jon did his directional magic to plan my shoot. I didn’t want time to think about what I was doing, because I was that nervous, but all 3 were amazing at talking and distracting me.

Following the shoot I thought I would be happy to have maybe 10 pictures I liked. When I went back to the studio to look the enormity of what I had done hit me. The pictures were absolutely outstanding. I am not one for liking my own pictures and all of a sudden I couldn’t narrow it down to less than 22 pictures of me.

Like for many people, the shoot wasn’t just a day it was an experience. The whole day was extremely emotional but with their patience, relaxed way and kindness, it was an amazing experience.

I have lots of wobbly bits, scars and have always hated the way I look, but I am soon to be the proud owner of 22 beautiful pictures to look back on to remind me of who I really am when my confidence is low.

I just want to thank you Foxlow for navigating me through the experience with your professionalism, encouragement, support and guidance.
