Meet Your Boudoir Makeup Artist

Hi everyone, I’m Charlotte! Many of you will have met me at the studio when you have come for your boudoir photoshoot, but for those of you that haven’t met me I thought I would introduce myself.

I am proud to have been part of the Foxlow Photography team for the last 3 and a half years as a makeup artist and hair stylist. I started out as a freelancer, but joined the team permanently last year so now Jon and Danielle can’t get rid of me!! In my spare time you’ll usually find me under a blanket with the dog, at the gym, or eating copious amounts of pasta or potato.

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I could talk for England, so the fact that I can do it for a living is an absolute dream.

I love how working at Foxlow gives me the chance to work with so many ladies from all over the country with different styles and tastes; over my time here I have had the opportunity to meet and chat to so many people with different stories.

I’ve been a hair and makeup artist for just over 6 years, and in that time I’ve done everything from TV, film and theatre productions; to weddings and fashion photoshoots.

Each day in this industry brings a new challenge, and what I think I’ve learnt more than anything is how to bring out the best in each individual client.

Being a body positive boudoir photography studio means that we work with ladies of all ages, shapes and sizes, with different skin types, skin tones, hair lengths and colours. I take pride in being able to create a look that will make you feel glamorous, reflects your personal style, and that is also long-lasting and suitable for the camera.

Some ladies love makeup and we chat about different products and exchange tips and ideas, others have never worn makeup before or occasionally apply some mascara for special occasions. I think it’s those nervous clients that I love working with the most, getting to understand how they want to see themselves and creating a look that feels like themselves - but different.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing someone’s reaction when they see themselves in the mirror that first time! Phrases like “I’m beautiful!” or “Is that really me?” stay with me for a long time and makes everything feel worthwhile. There’s had to be a few makeup touch ups from happy tears, but I’m more than happy to fix that for them!

You might not know that, as well as a hair and makeup artist, I am also a qualified teacher. My experience teaching makeup artists at college was invaluable when it came to creating Makeup Made Easy, an online makeup course to help those that don’t feel confident applying their own makeup.

I know many people struggle to know where to start when it comes to makeup or trying out a new looks and products. Certainly, many of our clients have told me at the studio how intimidated they are by the makeup counters and by online tutorials they’ve seen on TikTok and YouTube etc.

That’s why we decided to create Makeup Made Easy as a more accessible, easy to follow makeup course. It’s online and on-demand which means you can take things at your own pace as I teach you 10 key skills to apply makeup and show you how to create 5 timeless makeup looks.

I’ve also included a few bonus tutorials on makeup for mature skin, makeup removal and my favourite product recommendations so you can get started straight away.

If you have any questions about the course or makeup and hairstyling at the studio, you can email me on makeup@foxlowphotography.com - I hope you see you at the studio soon!
